So we went to Krabi!
We decided to take a few days off in Krabi. I invited Farah my BFFFF and the rest was history. We booked our trip almost a year in advance, it felt forever for November to come and when it finally did, I swear I had goosebumps every time I realized the trip was happening soon.
1st Day in Krabi
We stayed in a beautiful villa in Khao Thong, secluded from all the hustle of Krabi Town and Ao Nang. We had a beautiful view of the bay, the Andaman sea was just few steps away from our rooms and we had the entire villa all to ourselves. We pretty much chilled, ate and caught up with each other the first day we got there, Rena was due to arrive the next day, so we didn’t want to do anything important without our girl. We swam in the pool and named our house cat Claire Danes (I forgot why) and didn’t want to think about work and commitment while we were there. I slept like a baby that first night, I was so happy, we were all happy.

2nd day in Krabi
I had to pinch myself when I woke up, somehow it felt like a dream. I went to the pool bench that was facing the ocean and had my morning coffee.
We headed to town around noon to shop and have lunch, Nina and Farah were on a mission to find the perfect Tom Yam Khung (it’s basically tom yam with coconut milk) but they still had no luck on the second day.
Back at the villa, we swam while we waited for the masseuse to arrive. Safe to say that everyone was knocked out unconscious after their getting their massages. Rena arrived that night, right before dinner. We ate our heart out and headed back to the villa to exchange our Christmas gifts. We played this game that was something like Secret Santa and it was so funny because we all got to choose the presents that we wanted and didn’t want anyone to steal our presents from us! Farah ordered a customized animal themed bag tag for each of us (it was so pretty!) and the night ended with most of us just chilling in the living room reminiscing about our good times in Brighton.
3rd Day in Krabi
We packed and get ready for our island hopping trip. We took a truck to the jetty and because my doctor specifically warned me not to get on any speedboats, the girls decided to go for a fish tail boat – which was less exciting (I’m sorry!) and way less faster and riskier compared to a speed boat. I felt so bad that the girls had to make a lot of sacrifices because of my condition but my love and appreciation grew even more for them because they were the best guardian angels and friends anyone can ever ask for.

The first island that we went to was Hong Island and there were so many tourists in comparison to the second island we went to -less people, but so many sea urchins! Farah and Nina were so brave to swim so far out in the sea, I pretty much chilled at the side like a dugong.

We decided to leave the second island when we realized it was about to rain, ten minutes short from arriving the jetty I heard someone saying ‘IS THAT A FIN?!’. So all of us got up and went towards the front part of the boat when this big looking fish started to twirl it’s body around and opened it’s mouth – that’s when we realised:
IT’S A SHARK, IT’S A SHARK, HOLY COW MAYDAY MAYDAY IT’S A SHARK
.
.
WHERE’S MY CAMERA AND WHY IS MY PHONE DEAD AT A TIME LIKE THIS?!
Partially excited, partially scared, we told the boat driver what it was and he gave us a look like ‘please woman I see that thing everyday’ so we were like okay let’s resume back to the shark. I couldn’t find my camera in time but Nina took a cool video of this beautiful creature swimming under our boat. Guys, it was HUGE. There was a speedboat carrying tourists that passed us and we tried to tell them there was a whale shark but they looked at us like we were crazy so oh well, your loss guys. Funnily enough we had a conversation about sharks the day before, so nice of the shark of swim by (possibly looking for food but whatever) that was the cherry on top of the cake for this trip.

Last Day in Krabi
I knew the girls were up to something because sometimes I’d catch them whispering to each other and would stop when I came into room (real subtle girls haha) but I didn’t expect them to throw me with a beautiful animal themed baby shower over breakfast. They hired cooks and the food was amazing. We ate in the open living room which had a beautiful view of the pond outside the house.

Towards the end, the girls presented me with so many books, all their favourite childhood story books and I had the best time flipping through them and teared up when I read the card they wrote for me. I can’t wait to read the books to Baby Bean one day and Baby Bean definitely has the best aunts in the world. Already spoilt rotten and it’s not even out of the womb yet!

What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven’t happened yet – and to think that we have each other for this, aren’t we lucky?

On another note I hope the Shark is okay
One response to “Dude, is that a Shark?”
[…] The last time I saw Chanel we were at this beautiful Villa in Krabi by the beach, just before sunset and was seven months pregnant with Rauf. Did you know we even saw a whale shark? We did, here’s proof. […]
