Well….sort of….
I’ve always reminded Joe that I want Rauf to start school early to let him socialise with other children. We decided we would send him after he turns two but I felt there is no harm trying out now.
He’s a year and 2 months old.
I noticed that when he sees other children he gets really excited and starts hitting them. Whenever we let him walk around among other kids I pray, pray and pray that he doesn’t bang anyone in the head, or snatch another kid’s toy or or smack anyone in the face – because he seems to like doing those things now.
Also, he still doesn’t sleep well at night. Since he was born I still get up 4-5 times to feed him and I have to admit I am really exhausted. So when I asked for advice, one of my friends asked if he gets ‘tired’ enough during the day, then I realized that he doesn’t. THAT’s why he doesn’t sleep well, because he doesn’t get tired!
So my reasons to send this poor kid to school is because:
1. So he can learn that kids are not things that we can freely wallop…and
2. To get tired so Rauf (and mommy) can sleep at night.
I couldn’t be there on his first day, so my mom had to step in and to my surprise she documented his first day like a pro. Her live updates were epic and Kelantanese influenced captions cracked me up, I decided to save it in this blog post so that Rauf can read it one day and have a laugh too.

The aftermath?
I got this message from his Nanny after they got home.

Haha. Maybe you’re a bit too young to start school now baby boy, perhaps the next term or the other.
