‘You should eat a lot of ginger, it’s good for you and your baby’

I consider it a blessing that I am able to breastfeed my son ever since he was born, we save a lot (for not buying formula) and I love bonding with him when he’s with me.

But there’s a downside to this, Rauf’s teeth grew out really quickly and he bites like a baby dinosaur, sometimes I would scream in pain and cry all by myself when I’m feeding him cause it is just so painful.

Another downside is that the less frequent I pump, the less production of milk I get. Lately, I noticed my production rate has decreased so I read up about how to increase it. One of the superfoods that can help, I found out, was Ginger.

Coincidentally I had a department lunch with my colleagues in a Chinese restaurant and it served fresh ginger along side the Dim Sum that we ordered. Feeling proud about what I had read earlier on about ginger and how it could help me, I chomped it down like  no one’s business. I swear I had never been so excited to eat ginger before. ‘This is sure gonna help me!” I thought

True enough, it did. It helped A LOT (if you now what I mean), and so quick! I wasted no time and decided it was time to pump. So I happily took my ‘boob bag’ into the mother’s room and discovered something horrific.

MY BREAST PUMP WAS NOT THERE OH MY GOD I AM GOING TO DIE HERE

So there I was, boobs out, engorged and no breast pump. Had to leave work a bit early that day but went home with the lesson of a lifetime.

Next time don’t eat so much ginger…

and ALWAYS check your bag!

Sincerely,

Big T
