One of my worries before our long trip was over packing. If you are over packed before you get to your destination then you will definitely be over packed when you’re coming home. I wanted to avoid that because 1. We had limited luggage weight and 2. Too much stuff = Stress
I was already travelling with an infant. Enough stress there thank you very much.
Maybe if I could get something that could kill 2 birds with one stone, like if Rauf’s shampoo could also be used as a body wash and a cream that could help avoid indigestion etc and help moisturize his skin at the same time. But then how was I suppose to Google this and most pharmacies would only sell commercialized brands (not that I have anything against them) and I was looking for something that was natural and travel friendly.
Then there’s Tropika. This bad boy (when I say bad, I really mean fantastic) because the moment I tried the body oil on Rauf, I fell in love with it right away.

Body wash and shampoo
The body wash and shampoo is close to perfection. Only had to bring in one bottle for bath time and trust me when you’re carrying and bathing a baby alone in a bathroom, you don’t have enough hands to handle too many things in there. The fact that both cleansing liquids came in the same bottle was gold for me. The only downside about it is that I had to squeeze the bottle really hard for the liquid while holding a soaked Rauf.
Body oil and hair oil
My absolute favourite. Rauf was not used to the cold and the unpredictable English weather so his skin didn’t react too well during our stay and dried up really fast. So the body oil really helped in keeping his skin moisturized. I only wished I applied it more than once a day but I kept forgetting to bring the oil with me wherever I went.
Anyway, the oil smelt heavenly. It made my son smelt like a meadow filled with lavenders and even my sister was addicted to it. Most products that smells good would be made up with loads of chemicals, but I didn’t hesitate to bath Rauf with this oil because it’s free from harmful stuff and you can count with your fingers the number of ingredients used to make this oil. The smell could last the whole day. I hope my son didn’t get sick of me sinffing him from time to time. Oh well too bad for him like he could complain anyway haha.
Herbal cream
This was another great 2 in 1 product that had lotion-like purpose and miyak telon in one bottle. Unlike the telon oil, this cream is not heaty. You can put as much as you want and the baby won’t feel any discomfort. It’s meant to aid indigestion and colic for your baby while keeping their skin hydrated (it’s good for sensitive skin children too). This cream apparently also helps to aid coughs and colds, just think of it as another version of vicks.
I found out that Tropika’s herbal cream is made up from extra virgin coconut oil, eucalyptus oil and various tropical herbs, so no need to worry so much about it harmful chemicals. Another plus point for this cream, it won the Reader’s Choice Award for Mama Papa + Babytalk magazine this year. Impressive right.
Truth to be told, I get skeptical when I hear about brands which I do not usually see on the shelves of pharmacies I usually visit, but using this brand has certainly opened up my mind to try out natural and local made goods. Well done Tropika, this mommy is sold.
