We decided a long time ago that our family should take a short roadtrip in England and drive up to Scotland, so we did and even though it was exhausting it was worth it. We had two days in Edinburgh and all I heard Joe say since we started planning was that he wanted to bring us including our son to Arthur’s Seat.

A little reservation at first because of safety and Rauf’s still a baby but after much consideration we just went on with it. My dad, Joe, Rauf (who had no idea what was going on) and myself geared up for the evening hike.
5 minutes in and I was already panting like I had just ran 10 km. I was so pissed off at myself for being so unfit.
Then as we were making our way up I got even more pissed off because people were practically skipping and jogging on the way up and down of the hill.
I was already floored with the view mid way through, the thought of how stunning it would be from Arhur’s Seat kept me going. My dad was having such a good time, taking selfies here and there. Joe was a champion for carrying Rauf all the way up, Rauf on the other hand still had no clue what was going on.

And finally, we did it! The view was stunning. Kinda felt like we were on top of the world!
I knew the hike meant a lot to Joe, because the first time he climbed Arthur’s Seat, he wasn’t married, barely had anything, single, and was with his boys during their cycling trip. Now he’s back with his own little family, must have been surreal for him up there.
The pain of hiking up there didn’t matter anymore. Maybe it would have been easy peasy for most people, but not for me. In the end, I got up there with my boys. My dad was so happy – usually he’s not very adventurous and outdoor-sy but since Joe came into our lives a lot of good things happen and this was one of them.
