My due date is around the corner, so I’ve been doing some reflecting on how my pregnancy journey has been. I think I’m one of the lucky ones, felt healthy and energetic most of the time. Then I started to think of things that I’m going to miss about being pregnant, and the things I look forward for once he’s out!
What I won’t miss about being pregnant:
- The back ache
- The butt ache
- The constant hunger
- Mild contractions and false labour (so so evil because it is so so confusing)
- Fat comments
- The waddling –like a mix breed between a whale and a penguin
- The excessive sweating – that’s the ‘glow’ everyone often talks about
- The constant peeing
- ….followed by the getting up 5 times every night to pee
- The need for someone to push or pull me out of bed – otherwise I will just lie down until the end of time
- Constanly making lists of things to buy. Shopping is fun and all but it ain’t fun when you’re broke
- Can’t eat pineapples and limit COFFEE intake –coffee is the other love of my life
- Can’t fit my clothes besides lose tops and leggings – haven’t worn pants since god knows when, I MISS MY PANTS
- My stomach can’t fit in tiny spaces (like when the cars are parked too close to one another)
- Can’t touch my toes
- Finger and toes swelling

What I’m going to miss about being pregnant:
- You need no excuse to justify why you’re eating ice cream more than once a day, any time of the day
- Praying while sitting down
- Be lazy and get away with it
- Rediscovering and fitting into my old clothes (used to be overweight)
- The only time people would encourage me to eat more
- Getting to see how my belly grow throughout the months
- Reading about the baby’s growth progress on a weekly and monthly basis
- Monthly scans! Getting the picture of the baby felt like getting a present
- The excitement every time the baby punches or kicks (sometimes he tap dances in there)
- How others get excited when they touch my tummy and my baby moves
- Getting presents hahahahahaha
- Getting helpful advice
- Some people look at my stomach instead of my face when they talk to me, I find it hilarious
And the thing I’m going to miss most about being pregnant is the personal bond that only I have with him. After he’s born I have to share him with the world, but it’s okay, I have a feeling he’s gonna be a mummy’s boy already.
