One of the things a pregnant woman can look forward for is to indulge into her cravings, especially when the awful morning sickness phase is over. Fortunately, I barely had any morning sickness and my cravings were pretty reasonable. I remember wanting watermelons, milo ais, nuggets, noodles, keuy teow and porridge…..can’t remember the rest but I’m sure there’s more.

But I have to say, the best part about my food + pregnancy journey was witnessing Joe surrendering to his cravings as well. He will deny this if you ask him but I swear it’s hilarious because sometimes I don’t feel like I am the only one pregnant! We both get hungry reallllllllly fast, when I have a certain type of craving, he’d have one as well and it will be different type of food so there will be a huge debate on what we should have. One time, I wanted pizza but he wanted KFC and we started to argue then I was like ‘hang on a minute, who’s pregnant here?’

There was a phase when all Joe wanted to do was cook. He made Nasi Goreng Kampung with eggs and prawns and Mee Hun Goreng. Suddenly, he got so hardworking in the kitchen (not that I’m complaining because it was awesome) and I found it really funny because out of nowhere he became so enthusiastic about food. My helpers at home had the shock of their lives, should have seen their reaction when Joe said ‘Kakak, tak pe, biar Joe masak malam ni!’.
So the other day when we were in Ipoh for a wedding, we both got so hungry at night and decided to go to a McDonald’s drive through. On the way there I guess Joe felt a bit guilty that he’s been eating so much so he started lecturing about healthy eating. Despite the whole pep talk, we STILL went to the drive through. I ordered my medium Fries and Milo Ais (wanted a burger but felt guilty after the lecture), but Joe took a while deciding what to eat. I was anticipating for his order because I wanted to know what his ‘healthy’ choice would be, then he said:
‘Hi, just one cheeseburger please,’

I arrest my case, that’s it, we’re BOTH pregnant.
