The Best Cup of Coffee

They say you learn something new about your partner every day. Recently, I discovered that my husband makes the best coffee.

Que the awwws. Okay maybe not.

Joe and his buddies are in progress of setting up a kiosk. The concept is simple: to serve fresh brewed coffee and tidbits for customers who are on the go. They call themselves CO.PI and they’ve been working on this business idea progressively. CO.PI recently purchased a coffee machine and for an introductory course, they had our Cat in the Box legends, Amber and Muz to teach them how to brew coffee. Given that the location for the kiosk is still not confirmed, the coffee machine is in our house, MUCH to my pleasure and satisfaction (hello… free coffee everyday)

So, last Friday, when Amber and Muz came over, everyone in the house was excited for the class, even though most of us have nothing to do with the coffee business. I joined in, my dad came along, my 9 year old cousin popped by and even my cat, Bunga joined in the fun and became the biggest busybody of the night.

Amber and Muz were so gracious with their time and knowledge, they taught us how to prep the machine, grind the coffee bean, filter the coffee, steam the milk and taste the coffee. Man, the process of brewing coffee may sound simple but the perfect cup of coffee requires the right setting and environment, the right chemistry of all ingredients, condition of the tools and of course a skillful barista.

Amber said the taste for coffee is subjective. Some may like it dark, some like it light, other prefers fruity-ish coffee and so many actually don’t know what kind of taste they like as long as it’s coffee.

All I know is that I had so much fun menyibuk-ing during the class and got to brew my own coffee. Even though the taste was pretty good, the latte art was completely nonsense and a gone case.

What on earth is this supposed to be?!

Hap’s was better, he calls it ‘the cloud’

Proud of the cloud

Everyone’s coffee ended up tasting more or less the same, our artistic side was a complete no go  but a few days later, when I craved for some coffee and Joe said he’ll make me some, it turned out to be the best coffee I’ve ever had! and by far the prettiest!

Proud wife! Proud wife!

Well, maybe it looks justttttt okay but the taste was superb! Good start for CO.PI, great lesson for all of us. For the coffee lovers out there, keep an eye out for CO.PI okay, they may be new, but they’re hella hardworking and they don’t easily give up, and they already make delicious coffee.
