I was happily chomping my Siew Mai dumpling in Dolly Dim Sum celebrating my sister’s birthday when I got a message from my cousin which made me almost fell of my chair.

She sent a screen shot of a photo and a message that said ‘WHY YANA WHY’

‘What on earth is she merepek-ing about, did I do something wrong?’ I opened her message and I think the entire restaurant heard me gasp. It was a picture  of Vivy Yusof and myself, uploaded onto her Instagram page. My mom wasn’t to keen that my food was still in my mouth when I gasped BUT SORRYLAH MAMA MANNERS ARE EXEMPTED FOR TIMES LIKE THIS.

Before I knew it, my friends started to tag me and sent the same screen shot messages. They all asked me: ‘Why?’ Why so random’ ‘Kau kenal Vivy ke’ ‘What are you both up to hah? ‘Are you working for FV now? ‘Are you one of her vendors? and my favourite one was ‘Are you Daniel and Mariam’s new babysitter?’. Pfft, I wish guys, I wish.

So, to those who are wondering this is why:

I read Vivy’s latest blog post on her and her husband’s mission on getting investors for their company. Being her follower for years and admiring the amount of hard work she, Fadza and their FV team has put in down right is inspiring.  Her blog posts are relatable; she talks about her ups and down as a wife and a mom, she shared with her readers on her spiritual journey, her entrepreneurial quests and she responds to criticism in her own manner. So I wrote her an email, saying thanks for being the inspiration that I often need at times of self doubt and the role model that many people out there can look up to.

Vivy’s stories makes you realise ‘ If she can do it, I can do it too if I give my all and try hard enough’.

I feel so touched that she had the time to actually upload our picture on Instagram (she could have uploaded another OOTD promoting more fab goods from FV), but the way she responded to my note made me realise that humility and gracefulness is what makes people remember and love you.

Thanks again Vivy, I hope to bump into you again at another Bazaar Ramadhan.
